Insider's Secrets for How to Write a Cookbook

What You Must Know About Naming Recipes
When Writing a Cookbook

Here's another key insider's secret - its short and sweet, but its IMPORTANT:

Recipe names help to sell cookbooks.

The title of each recipe should be inviting and enticing.  Each recipe title has got to tantalize and tempt, yet at the same time you've got to make sure not to overwork the title to the point that it sounds silly or awkward.

Just as we discussed in the section on titling your book, the title of each recipe is essentially an advertisement for that recipe. It's got to be enticing. It's got to entice the reader to want to try it.

These are things the typical novice cookbook author doesn't think about. It's these sorts of details that make the difference in writing a great cookbook.

To develop your knack for creating powerful recipe titles, study the titles of recipes by going to the local library or bookstore, and by browsing through your own collection. Pay close attention to the recipe names in magazines.
